Signature Collection by Fashion Designer, Jason C. Peters - BRASH! Magazine BlogSummer styles are hitting the market and fashion lovers down south got a taste of what Jason C. Peters has cooked up with his one-of-a-kind clothing line. Kicking off the hottest season of the year, Peters put on a show in Atlanta, GA displaying his designs along with keeping up his activism through creativity.

The show was held at Iridium ATL on June 29th. Vibrant models walked in his unisex bear hoodies, bear shorts for the ladies, tees consisting of his signature bear design in eye-catching style variations. These styles gave a chic look to casual designs, dressed up or dressed down. For anyone looking for style inspo, this show served as a Summer Style Guide for anyone looking to switch up their wardrobe for the new season.

Peters’ show also reminded us of his fashion/social messages with a purpose with a few paper doll designs. (If you’re not familiar with a Jason C. Peters PaperDoll Fashion Show….READ HERE!) Messages touched on the fight “Pro-Choice”, Saving the Planet, and Ending underage marriage. Mixing Fashion and messages, Peters shows that his cause wasn’t a short-term trend, but a life long mission to use his gift in fashion design and creativity to encourage change.

BRASHION! EXCLUSIVE | Jason C. Peters Fashion Voice for Change

Exclusive Interview with Celebrity Fashion Designer Jason C. Peters on His Latest Atlanta Fashion Presentation for the PaperDoll Collection

PaperDoll Collection by Jason C Peters

We’ve been following fashion designer, Jason C Peters, on his fashion tour for the PaperDoll Collection. Making BOLD fashion statements with unique designs, Peters is showing the industry and society as a whole, that he’s not stopping until the message are loud and clear. Creating a movement of change through his work is a priority with the PaperDoll Collection. With his most recent stop in Atlanta, GA, Peters shined a huge light on issues, views, and matters that are dear to his heart.

The event was held at Iridium ATL. Attendees enjoyed cocktails, gift bags for VIP guests and the exclusive look at Peters’ collection. Vendors/sponsors for the event included: Zen Paradise Spa, Champs Charms, Iridium ATL, U.G.L.Y (U GOTTA LOVE YOURSELF), and The Hair Palace.

The messages delivered in the recent show included, adoption, equality in sports leagues, identity, as well as the heinous task of keeping immigrant children in cages; separated from their families. Continuing to be the VOICE through fashion is Peters’ way of putting the voice into action for change!

Check out his exclusive interview with BRASH!

Jason C Peters PaperDoll CollectionB!: This time around, you touched on how adoption saves lives. What inspired this message?
The subject of adoption is very important to me being an adopted child. My grandparents adopted myself as well as my 2 older brothers. There are “invisible children” which inspired me to create the “adopt kids save lives” piece. Invisible children are those who have been in the foster care system their entire lives and are never adopted; once they turn 18 years old they are generally removed from the foster care system and left to fend for themselves which is extremely heart breaking. My brothers, as well as myself, were extremely lucky to have been adopted and raised by such amazing grandparents; John Manuel Peters & Dolores Mae Peters.

B!: The message of Equality was highly present, even in sports. What is your take on what needs to be done to show equality within these professional sports leagues?
JCP: In terms of sports leagues, I feel that equality is pretty far fetched. All athletes no matter which sport they play are human beings and individuals with the ability to display their own expressions of personal opinions in whatever capacity they choose to. They have the god given right to express themselves. Isn’t this America? Land of the free? 5th Amendment freed of speech? OR AmeriKKKa land of Koruption, Killing and Kruelity? Athletes are very important in this multi-billion dollar sports franchise. I was raised playing just about every sport imaginable. Athletes work hard are put on strict diets hours and hours of training intense practices etc, all so YOU can get enjoyment. So if you are wanting them to WIN FOR YOU, then they should be able to take a knee, speak their mind and not be put into a bubble like caged animals. Trump administration needs to stop trying to control a person’s rights and everyone should receive equality no matter what!

B!: Not only are the designs compelling, your twist on the models hair/make up brings these looks to life. What inspired this creative twist?
JCP: I always come up with each hair and makeup look for every show! The looks for this show were inspired by being different and not trying to fit into a “mold” of what’s “normal.” Rainbows have a hugely impactful meaning in the world and that is where I also got inspired from.

B!: The identity design stood out, not only with the message but with the design. What is your take on shedding light on this issue?
JCP: The dress symbolized a “broken identity” theme; hearts and flowers on one side with lightning and rain on the other with the word “identity” broken down and overlapped in the middle. In today’s society having an identity is looked down upon because so many things we are exposed to try and make us conform. Conforming is LAME and having your own identity is COOL.

Jason C Peters PaperDoll Collection

B!: With each show, how do you ensure that you’re staying consistent as well as creating a new experience for each showcase?
JCP: When I first launched the tour April 29th 2018, I didn’t realize the huge impact that it would have! I am dedicated to bringing so many real issues to life and will continue to that with every show that I do. I have soooo much more in store! Just buckle up because the ride is about to get intense!!!!

BRASHION! EXCLUSIVE | Fashion Statements by Jason C Peters

Fashion Designer Jason C. Peters, Pushing the Envelope with Atlanta Fashion Showcase Continuing the PaperDoll Collection Tour

jcp_nrakillskids2Jason C Peters has been using his major platform in the fashion industry to not only shine light on the gruesome parts going on within industry of style, but to spread awareness to social issues. With the continuation of his PaperDoll Collection tour, Peters gave ATL a jaw dropping show. Of course we had to catch up with our fashion friend to get an inside look on the energy behind the process along with how he’s shaking up the fashion world once again.

I believe that as artists, creators and innovators it is our duty to use our platforms through creativity to bring awareness to real life issues.

Instead of taking an “It’s all about me!” approach when putting together his shows, Peters steps it up a notch joining in on the conversations about sexism, gun laws, and even the slave trade. All issues that have been in headline news but few would take the steps to take a stance and do something about them. Jason C Peters is getting our attention HIS way through creative designs and by putting on a good show!

ME TOO MOVEMENT, fashion designer, celebrity fashion desighner, paperdoll collection, atl fashion show, jason c peters

I have always been for the underdog or those that feel their voices aren’t heard. Fear prohibits us from using our voices to stand up for who we are and what we believe in.

shine bright, fashion designer, celebrity fashion desighner, paperdoll collection, atl fashion show, jason c petersThe drive for his courage to be a strong voice derives from his risk taker spirit and unapologetic approach in fashion design. To Peters, doing what is right within his lane is initiating change, providing though provoking art, and being that voice for millions who are constantly silenced by societal viewpoints.

With his most recent show held at Iridium ATL (Atlanta, GA), Peters felt that it was important to stay true to himself by doing what he knows. And that is PUSH THE ENVELOPE. Throughout the showcase, guests were greeted with eye-catching phrases adorned on the collection.

One major look from the show was a design which stated “NRA Kills Kids”.

We all know what that stands for. However, how many of us are willing to speak that through our gift? And with this particular piece, Peters had this to say:

“I will continue to travel the United States doing inspirational impactful mind blowing and out of the box themed fashion shows to bring awareness to issues that not only affect us individually but as an entire country and world. I was inspired to create this truthful & current piece. The NRA is killing kids in the sense that they need to have strict gun laws that will keep kids around the United States safe and not allow them to have easy access to them.”

fashion designer, celebrity fashion desighner, paperdoll collection, atl fashion show, jason c petersPeters joins the fold of many creatives in the entertainment and fashion industries such as Cardi B, Snoop Dogg, Alexander McQueen, and Rihanna. They stay true to themselves while giving the world their art as well as standing up for what they believe in. Society constantly pushes us to believe that an unpopular or an uncommon stand is the wrong one. Luckily for us, we have artists such as these who are risking their positions in continuing the fight for the voiceless.

Throughout the tour of Peters’ PaperDoll Collection, he describes the response as “pretty awesome”.

People have been very appreciative of me really bringing some of these current day issues to light through my creative forms of expression and fashion.

fashion designer, celebrity fashion desighner, paperdoll collection, atl fashion show, jason c petersHe’s even gained attention via social media from today’s pop culture influencers such as Erika Jane (Real Housewives of Beverly Hills), Perez Hilton (Celebrity Blogger) along with getting the support of Phaedra Parks (Former Real Housewives of Atlanta), and Ocho Cinco (Former NFL Player); once the buzz of his PaperDoll Collection hit media outlets.

And the show WILL continue. Peters is far from done with his mission to take on various issues affecting us today while providing creative fashion and an entertaining show. He’s all about the element of surprise so stay tuned to get more jaw-dropping designs that will make you want to stand up and speak out!

Paper Doll Collection Meets New York | Jason C Peters Fashion Show

Paper Doll Collection by Jason C Peters Made Its Way to Showcase in New York

jason c peters, model thin, cotton model flakes, fashion show, new york fashion show, paper doll collection by jason christopher peters, NY Fashion, fashion show tour, jason Christopher petersFashion designer, Jason C Peters is keeping the Paper Doll Collection on the move with his recent New York showcase introducing newer pieces to fashion lovers in the Big Apple. With the continuation of his fashion tour, he’s spreading the message of the industry that is making others think as well as utilize these message to affect change. Although the fashion world is an influential place, the hidden messages about looks and standards can take a toll on society as a whole. Guests were treated with vendors and drinks sponsored by Given Spirits.

In doing his part as a celebrity designer, Peters is taking his own creativity and shining a light on the issue that are often ignored.

With the New York show, the Paper Doll Collection touched on the issues of size, age, and even self-respect. Continuing the theme of models being made up as cliched dolls, they hit the runway with a purpose!

The paper doll collection is forcing people to be intellectuals and use their minds to grasp the true meanings and concepts of what I’m trying to convey about the fashion world and world in general. Accept and love one another for who each of us are.

The message of drug abuse, staying thin, and the constant reminder that models are more that just walking billboards for merchandise, were all highlighted within this showing. These individuals are used as tools to increase sales but rarely they are looked upon as human beings. With the constant demands from the industry, it throws them into a cycle of pain, lack of confidence, and mental/physical issues.

The Delicate Flower – From the Desk of Jason C Peters

jason c peters, delicate flower, age limits, modeling at any age, fashion show, new york fashion show, paper doll collection by jason christopher peters, NY Fashion, fashion show tour, jason Christopher peters

The delicate flower piece has a strong meaning. The model is the beautiful Arlene Love who is 82 years old. Arlene became a fan of my work some years back then a true supporter. I chose to work with her again because of her beautiful spirit. She is someone who I can call a friend and is an amazing individual.

Delicate symbolizes a type of innocence to me. I feel as though delicate can take on different forms which most see as weak. On the contrary my belief is that delicate people have hearts and are loving people who have beautiful souls. A flower is something beautiful. Arlene wearing the piece symbolized that after all the scrutiny the pulling plucking demands on being thin, to look like a barbie to be the perfect “model.” She still is a delicate flower which wants to be treated respected and loved for who she is, not what the fashion world wants to transform her into.

Another win for Jason C Peters and the Paper Doll Collection. The tour will continue to New Jersey and DC in Sept and another showcase in NYC. Peters promises us that as the tour goes on, the shows will get more profound. And WE CANNOT WAIT!!

BRASHION! | Tales from the Runway with Jason C Peters

Fashion designer Jason C Peters uses a unique theme and designs to tell a VERY real story of models within the fashion world

jason c peters, fashion show, atlanta, fashion, celebrity fashion designer, brash magazine blog, runwayOn June 10, 2017, celebrity fashion designer and model, Jason C. Peters held an extravagant fashion show event displaying his creativity on the inside fashion world.  The event was held at Iridium Clothing in Atlanta, GA, guests were able to patronize vendors along with enjoying drinks provided by Given Spirits.

Using his gift, Peters displayed a subject matter that is touched on but not heavily publicized by fashion industry leaders. The theme involved the topic of how the industry can be fake and utilizes hopeful models looking to rise in their dream, only to mold and shape them into unrealistic beings. This in turn, contributes to their self-esteem issues and unfortunately some’s demise.

The theme of the show personified childhood toys, paper dolls, to showcase another perspective inside the world of fashion along with placing slogans that described the message within every piece. With each look, a transition took place before our eyes showing the stages of what models are constantly being forced to look like and the lifestyle changes throughout their careers.

With his platform, Jason C. Peters touched on:

atlanta fashion show, jason c peters, celebrity designer, fashion designer
The clichéd “Malibu Barbie”
. Molding models into unrealistic body type and lifestyles inspired by a popular childhood doll.

Being High on Fashion. When the fashion world becomes an addiction creating this fabricated high as one would feel from a “puff puff pass”.

atlanta fashion show, jason c peters, celebrity designer, models, runway show

The Loss of Identify. “Pull Tightly” forcing models to become thinner and thinner to fit industry standards.

Pill Poppin’. This stigma of perfection then dwindles down to using vices to mask the pressure and the pains of wanting to be perfect. This desire of perfection is encouraged by industry insiders and critics.

jason c peters, atlanta fashion show, model

Stripped Down. The showcase also displayed models being stripped down to where they lose themselves in that world and losing their soul.

The Next Generation. The pressures are then passed on to younger generations where they fight to understand the balance of “being themselves” in which they are taught, however being influenced to “go with the flow” of what is demanded from them to keep their place in the modeling world.

Jason C Peters | Atlanta Fashion Show

Standards of Beauty for Female Models:
Male models were plain, no makeup. While female models were dazzled up in glitter, heavy makeup showing the markings of what the industry wants: perfect lips, perfect eyes, perfect hair, and perfect face.

So many memos were given in this story told through a runway showcase. It is important that industry insiders, the public, and critics’ alike take heed to them and understand that the industry can destroy from inside out. These stigmas not only hurt people who are looking from the outside dying to be the man/woman in the magazines, it also takes a toll on the models.

Great show and we look forward to see more from Jason C Peters, on the runway!!
