Book of Broken Romances | “All This Time” by Van Bellman

Indie-Rock Talent, Van Bellman Releases Third Single “All This Time”

All This Time by Van BellmanIf Sufjan Stevens was on a Beatles kick and stumbled upon a lost track from Beck’s Sea Change, it may sound like “All This Time,” a handful of broken romances distilled into one story. Boy wants girl, but plays it cool. She feels rejected and moves on. Boy comes crawling back, and she wants nothing to do with him. Rinse and repeat. The dogged heart defies the brain, again and again. After all this time I still spend all this time on you. It’s only fitting to release this yearning love song during the week of Valentine’s Day.

“All This Time” is Available Now on iTunes & Spotify!

indie rock artist, van bellmanAbout Van Bellman
Before starting Van Bellman last year, singer/guitarist Zac Taylor was writing and producing songs with other bands and artists. “I initially wrote ‘All This Time’ for Connell Cruise, who was label mates with my other band American Authors on Island Records a couple years ago, but has since moved back to South Africa where he just won Dancing With the Stars. But I always loved this song and I didn’t want it to fall through the cracks.”

“I’m mainly a guitarist but I love writing on piano because I can come across some happy accidents. That’s where the piano riff came from: a toy piano gathering dust in the corner of Mission Sound studio with one broken key, which you can hear in the track if you listen closely. I composed the string section digitally and had my friends Marie Kim (currently playing keys for Mitski) and Andy Baldwin (acclaimed mixing engineer for Björk, Cat Power, St Lucia, yours truly) replace it with actual cello and violin, which is truly a sonic treat in today’s digital age.”

The first three Van Bellman releases are all a bit different from each other. Sirius XM’s AltNation debuted the first single “I Hate To See You This Way,” a “bluesy rock and indie pop track that hits you hard from the second it starts and never seems to lose its momentum” (Live Nation’s Ones to Watch). “Gold & Blue” is “more of a pop anthem than the darkly ambient first single” (Billboard). “All This Time” is a forlorn love song with more orchestral elements and straightforward storyline.

Van Bellman has hit the ground running since its inception less than a year ago and shows no signs of slowing down.

Love Stallion recently released their latest video in time for their favorite holiday, Valentine’s Day. “Valentine” was produced by Arcadian Pictures, the same team behind the “Big Rock Radio” video.

“It was an absolute pleasure working again with John Hunt of Arcadian Pictures,” said Love Stallion frontman, Aaron Hart. “Our favorite part was the filming the black light party body-painting flashback scene! We filmed this at my condo in Denver, where a pair of Sexy Disco Legs hang above a big white plush area rug in the great room, surrounded in black light. Our tour company, Full Color Productions brought in 16 additional lighting fixtures to help set the mood, completely washing the room in black light and lasers. We had a bunch of friends out that night, along with DJs spinning house music (one of which was John, aka Panamaa). It was a total blast! Unfortunately, for our guests and my rug, the “washable” body paint didn’t turn out to be washable, ha!”

Fanning the Flames | “Heart on Fire” by Morrison

Electro-Rock Artist, Morrison, Releases New Single “Heart on Fire”

Heart on Fire by Morrison - BRASH! Magazine Blog(New York, NY) – Miami-based rock/pop artist Megan Morrison (aka MORRISON) bursts onto the indie music scene with her incendiary new single, “Heart on Fire.” The song is the first release from Morrison’s debut solo EP, Appetite for Freedom, set to release in Spring 2019.

Listen to “Heart on Fire”!

Morrison’s music career began at a very young age while growing up in Massachusetts. After singing in high school choirs and musicals and ranking at the top of her high school All-State competitions, she pursued a music degree from University of MA Amherst. Studying opera, she discovered she excelled at musical theatre having nabbed the lead in the musical, Cinderella. For her senior year, she moved to New York City to attend Hunter College and audition for Broadway musicals. Eventually, she began singing in rock/punk bands throughout the City where she found “her calling.” She moved to Miami in 2009 where she formed her first official band, Dorothy’s Surrender, for which she wrote all the songs influenced by her biggest inspirations: Hole, Garbage, Nine Inch Nails and Audioslave. Her second band, Revlover, formed in 2016, and had more of a folk, inspirational rock sound.

She Makes Music called Morrison’s vocals “full of rebellious attitude and a tone to back it up.” Miami New Times named Morrison one of the “Five Miami Women Artists to Watch on International Women’s Day” in March 2018, noting her five areas of expertise–a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, model, and fire dancer. Her last skill led her to guest appearances in music videos by Pitbull and Elvis Crespo and onstage with pop singer Jessie J.

Today, Morrison has a new band for her solo project that has more of an electronic rock sound that she attributes to her favorite band, Muse. (She considers herself the female Matt Bellamy!) Be sure to look out for her new music video for the “Heart on Fire”, featuring the artist dancing with fire!

The Jacks

With a heavy influence from the British Invasion of the 1960s and 70s, The Jacks have developed a rare sound that is unruly, bold, and hard to be ignored – they won’t settle for blending into the scene.

From their live shows to their recording techniques, they keep integrity to who they are and how they believe their music should sound. The 4-piece doesn’t hide behind auto-tune, click tracks, or backing tracks, what you hear is what you get.

With their latest release, The Jacks are “holstering loads of promise, so it’s time you gave them a listen, have the advantage of being able to shout ‘I heard ’em before they got famous’ when they crack the big time, and indulge in some great music” (One Stop Record Shop).

GAREK Is Taking The King

NYC Wild Child and London Style Icon, GAREK, Releases First Full Length LP ‘TAKE the KING’

takethekingInternational Rock Artist GAREK released his first studio album TAKE the KING on September 23rd.

TAKE the KING follows on the heels of GAREKs debut single ‘Save The Queen’, which entered the DRT National Rock Radiocharts at #5 and was the featured track at London Fashion Week 2014 for Australian Designer, Champagne Memories.

The full album includes 7 new tracks, as well as 3 re-mastered fan favorites from his 2014 EP ‘Take the King Vol. 1’.

Born and raised in Wisconsin, GAREK made his transition to New York in 2010 to pursue a career in music. He landed an internship at a music production house writing and singing demos for the likes of Disney and Nickelodeon, before releasing his own material.

His fusion of Industrial Rock (a la Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson and Garbage) with explosive choruses and haunting melodies has gotten tastemakers around the globe buzzing. MTV’s Logo (NewNowNext) says that “for all [his] influences, there’s something distinctive about what GAREK is doing” and London’s EQ Music hails him as “a deity of Industrial-Electro mastery.”

With this new release, GAREK takes us through the gamut of humanity. He opens with a stark self-portrait of mental illness in ‘Cavity’ a brooding Industrial number, before sliding into a celebration of feminine maliciousness in ‘Save The Queen’. He explores being ostracized from a child’s perspective on ‘Stray’ to a sarcastic, tongue-in-cheek condemnation of his assailants in ‘Leper’. Whether it’s his blistering fury, as felt on tracks like ‘Salem’ and ‘Ledge’ (his Kevorkian homage), or his quiet plea for empathy on ‘Boys Don’t Cry’, GAREK alternates between screams and whispers to further explore the dynamics of human existence.

TAKE the KING is my double-sided mirror. I held it up so I could begin to see and understand myself. I held it out so the world could do the same.” GAREK

TAKE the KING Available Now on iTunes!
