About Cooper Phillip
Born in a small town in Russia to a family of accomplished classical musicians, her early years were shaped being raised by her grandmother and aunt while her mother, a master violin player, toured around the world with various symphonies. This separation led Phillip to take comfort in music where she was enamoured by the vocal stylings of Ella Fitzgerald. A young Phillip taught herself Fitzgerald’s songs inside and out, noticing every nuance of phrasing and jazz intonations. Phillip eventually enrolled at the prestigious Moscow State Classical Academy where she studied classical piano, music theory, harp, jazz, blues, ballet and voice. The songstress worked diligently to expand her vocal range and control, taking everything that came in her path and feeding off of the challenge.

Phillip’s music features an underlying theme of strength, grace, and empowerment. “I believe we underestimate ourselves often and our fear takes over. My goal is to show people that they are stronger and can do much more than they think they can”, she admits. Using true-life stories, hardships, and experiences, the songwriter emits authenticity and courage throughout her music.

Cooper Phillip has seen success with her previous single garnering over 10 million listens online. She has also developed an impressive and loyal fanbase, particularly on social media and has performed at some of Los Angeles most prestigious venues.

Soul artist Hyleen releases ethereal music video for “My Queen”

French soul singer/songwriter Hyleen unveils the stunning visuals for “My Queen”, the first single off her upcoming album. Directed by her brother Hadrien Besse, Mathilde Leclerc and shot near Etretat cliffs in France, the music video is a heartwarming tribute to her mother: “This song is dedicated to all the strong, marvelous and beautiful women who make us a better person. Here’s to our moms, our heroines and to my personal Queen that I miss so much.” The song was recorded in Los Angeles at the Greene Room Studio and was mixed by Q Million (Robert Glasper, Quincy Jones, Jill Scott).

Hyleen’s powerful and husky voice has the ability to captivate audiences wherever she goes. Her interest in music stems from childhood: the self-taught musician played the guitar in her brother’s band before starting to write her own songs. She later studied musicology at University before broadening her musical horizons at the National Conservatory in Paris. After honing her skills as a singer-songwriter, vocalist and guitarist, she decided to work on her solo project. Her debut album U & I which was released in 2014, includes an amazing line up of guests such as Omar, Frank McComb and Chris Dave (Adele, Erykah Badu) on drums. Following this release, Hyleen decided to travel around the world to introduce her music to new audiences. She has had the opportunity to perform in New York, Paris and Japan. She has also supported artists such as Jarrod Lawson and Anthony David.

The songstress’ second album B-side was released in 2018. After travelling to India and Polynesia to promote the record, Hyleen was eager to come back to work on her new album. She adds “Writing all this new material has truly been like therapy for me… Full of emotions, I talk about all those memories we have with someone we love. How important it is to cherish these precious times before it’s too late, but even more important, how strong and positive we can stay, making them live through our own story. “

It all started with my mom who has always loved Luther and played his music in our home continuously – especially during Christmas. You can say I grew up with the world’s biggest Luther fan. In my young teens, I would perform a Luther song or two at weddings and people would keep requesting more of his hits. I recorded ‘Superstar’ awhile back which was Grammy nominated and sang different Luther songs during my live shows. But people always asked when I was going to do an album of Luther’s songs. Happily the day has arrived. It was a thrilling experience selecting the songs from his different albums and putting my own interpretation on them. I am so proud of this record”, commented Ruben.

It was very important to me to make sure I was able to capture the essence and rawness of her delivery.
